THE SMART HOME
Automation - Security - Energy Saving
The term “smart home” refers to those houses (and, more generally, buildings) that are equipped with the appropriate electronic infrastructure to provide a range of important services to their occupants, such as maximum security, energy saving, and easy control either inside from home or remotely, through alternative networks.
What functions of the house are affected?
Virtually all networks and services of a home benefit from the idea of smart home. Such networks and services are alarm, fire detection, temperature control (air conditioning, central heating, etc.), lighting control, electrical appliances, shutters, awnings, blinds, audio / video distribution (cameras, video intercom, satellite TV, and in general, entertainment devices, etc.), water supply, irrigation.
What technologies are there?
There are many building automation technologies that allow us to build a smart home. There are big differences in how they work, features, limitations and costs. Today, wireless technologies have matured and dominated the implementation of smart home solutions, based on reliable communication protocols such as Zigbee.
What buildings can become smart homes?
The evolution of wireless solutions allows each building to acquire the complete smart home solution and, in fact, to implement it gradually or partially if this is desired.
In a few words
Smart home technology is here, it has matured and can give us excellent results for maximum security, energy saving, and remote control. It is a matter of proper study, selection of appropriate materials and implementation by updated and specialized installers.
